The natural world is a source of wonder and inspiration

I spent most of my childhood in Kyrenia on the northern coast of Cyprus surrounded by untouched wild nature, miles of beaches, beautiful towering mountains and fairytale castles. This has stayed with me.

The specific colours and light of the north coast, the shapes of olive trees and pencil-like cypress trees all appear in my work. As do ancient churches that seem to have grown out of the surrounding stones.

Fantasy and mythology also influence my creativity. The strange flat-topped hills resemble sleeping dragons, ancient olive trees look like wise old beings and mysterious shapes in the sea… mermaids?
